The Kimberley Forest encompasses nearly 1,000 acres of public land in the heart of the beautiful Beaver Valley. The Friends of the Kimberley Forest (FKF) is a volunteer-led community organization dedicated to preserving and restoring this remarkable natural area while enhancing its educational and recreational opportunities.
For more than 10 years, FKF has worked as a non-profit organization, bringing together volunteers, trail users, and community partners to care for and steward this important landscape for current and future generations.

Where is the Kimberley Forest?
Located in the scenic Beaver Valley, the Kimberley Forest features more than 25 km of multi-use trails open to the public year-round.
The forest extends:
North: from the Beaver Valley Ski Club to Grey Highland’s Sideroad 7A;
East: along the Beaver River; and
West: to Grey Highland’s 7th Line.
These trails provide opportunities for hiking, cycling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and nature appreciation in one of Grey County’s most treasured landscapes.
What We Do
The FKF organization was formed to bring together the many users of the forest for a shared purpose: protecting and improving this public space.
Over the past decade, a dedicated team of volunteers has:
Maintained and improved the trail network;
Rehabilitated and rerouted trails to improve sustainability;
Organized volunteer trail days and guided hikes; and
Promoted responsible use and stewardship of the forest.
Recent Accomplishments
Wayfinding Signage Project
To ensure safe and sustainable access, FKF recently launched a new wayfinding system that includes:
New trailheads;
Updated trail signage; and
A comprehensive forest map.
These improvements help visitors navigate the trail network more easily while protecting sensitive areas.
New Forest Shelter
A wooden trail shelter has been built in the middle section of the forest. It provides a welcoming rest stop for hikers, cyclists and snowshoers enjoying the trails.
7th Line Parking Lot
Safe access to the forest has long been a priority. The parking lot at the intersection of Sideroad 4A and the 7th Line now provides convenient access to the upper multi-use trail system year-round.
What’s Next?
Ongoing projects, guided hikes and trail maintenance depend on the dedication of volunteers and the support of donors. Funding for these initiatives comes from community donations and grants.
