Beaver Valley Destination Stewardship puts relationships before agenda as an intentional way of working together. That means that we arrive with a curiosity about what others think and the way they see the world. We fundamentally believe that people have a deep sense of care for their home, and when we focus on authentic connections, we can amplify people’s messages of care.
Stacie Howe, Community Connector
Stacie is a community leader who uses her storefront gathering place to share information and build community organically one neighbour at a time.
She owns and operates the Kimberley General Store, Justin’s Oven, and the Kimberley Rock House, with her husband Justin. These three businesses served a massive influx of tourists to the Beaver Valley through Covid. In March of 2023, Stacie was introduced to the concept of Destination Stewardship as an approach to tourism that actually leads to environmental safeguarding and the enhancement of the unique character of the Valley. The approach hinges on community engagement and a culture of care, for each other, for the land, for the waters, and for wildlife — which is exactly what should happen on the front porch of a general store.
